Soriano is in the midst of an annual festival celebrating the patron saint, Sant’Eutizio and as part of this event, the local Sorianese born 40 years ago, in 1975, organise a number of events and fundraisers throughout the year to culminate in a week of celebration for the Sant’Eutizio Festival from the 9th to the 17th of May.
This year the “Classe 1975” (meaning local Sorianese born in 1975, not graduating in 1975, as most English speakers would think) have worked tirelessly throughout the year with numerous events to raise funds to put on a spectacular grand event and pull off what appears to be a bit of a coup!
On Sunday evening in sleepy little Soriano, the famous Italian singer/songwriter Raf performed in the main piazza. Raf is short for Raffaele Riefoli, he’s a 1959 vintage and had most of his success in the 90’s but is one of those performers who keeps coming back with more hit songs. A success beyond expectations for the Raf’s “I am” 2015 Tour in Soriano nel Cimino (Sunday, May 10, 2015) during the celebrations in honour of parton saint and martyr, Sant’Eutizio.
Raf offered a great show in the main Piazza of Soriano for all those who came for the occasion at the foot of Monte Cimino reminiscing with all the greatest hits of his career, from “Il Battito Animale” to “Self Control“, through “Sei la più bella del mondo“, “Ossigeno“, “Gente di mare“, “Cosa resterà di questi anni ’80“, “Via“, “Dimentica“, “Non è mai un errore“, “In tutti i miei giorni“, to arrive at his latest hits “Come una favola” and “Rimani tu” and finally concluding his concert with his most successful song “Infinito“.
Over two-hours the show wooed the audience but especially the men and women of the “Classe 1975” who made the evening possible.
“Let us enjoy this magical moment”, commented the members of the “Classe 1975″, a wonderful evening, a successful concert for us with many compliments for our efforts. There is satisfaction in working the whole year and then to collect the fruits of our labour; a crowded piazza, enthusiasm, the audience mesmerised by the dazzling on stage performance, all the singing of familiar and famous songs. We want to once again thank all of those who helped and supported us to make this possible.”
